Moon - August 2013This picture was taken at 21:45 on 16th August from my garden in St. Ishmaels. It was taken on a Lumix DMC-FZ28 at f4 with ISO 100 & 1/100sec. Currently the Moon is what's called waxing gibbous - it is 77% of full and a number of craters/mare can be identified including Copernicus (middle, left) and note also the Apennine mountain range to its right and heading up at 45 degrees. |
From Earlier This YearThings have been quiet on the astro front recently so here's a nice picture from January. It was taken on my Lumix DMC-FZ28 a lucky shot really as there was nothing showing in the viewfinder. We can see Jupiter shining brightly in the centre with the distinctive V shape of the Hyades below and the Pleiades above. Currently Jupiter is in Gemini and becoming more favourable for viewing and hopefully photographing! |
